So tomorrow's the big day...I'm surprisingly calm. Not nervous or anything, just been busy today. My parents came down so that they and my husband can be there for the surgery, so I've gotten to spend a lot of time running around with my mother today while my husband and father were putting up walls in the bathroom. (We have three walls now!) So far, it's been a pretty chill but productive day. I can officially say now that all Christmas shopping is completed and wrapped. House is picked up and dusted too!
I'm finding it hard to focus on what I need to put together to be ready to go in the morning. I really need to just lay my stuff out tonight because I'm really not at my best at 5 am. I have to be at the hospital at 6 am, ans surgery's at 7. I had my last diet sprite tonight, so I'm rearin' to go! Not too much to write about tonight; I suspect tomorrow I'll post a bigger post about it all.
But for now... a picture of me and my husband this week at a Christmas light display here in town.

Day 7 Pre-Op
I've made it a week, and I'm not gonna lie...I'm hungry enough to eat a velociraptor. Yes, currently, I would indeed eat an entire dinosaur just for the thrill of chewing. Of course catching the thing would be problematic... I've found some really good protein powders I like though.
Lemonade Protein
1 scoop Syntrax Nectar Roadside Lemonade Powder
1 packet of Crystal Light lemonade (those bottled water drop ins)
8 oz water
Put that bad boy in your blender bottle, shake and guzzle!
(Calories: 110, Fat: 0, Carbs: 0, Protein: 24)
Aside from my growing obsession with getting in the requisite number of calories and protein in liquid form (thanks MyFitnessPal!), we're currently renovating our guest bathroom (and only shower source in the house. This would be great if it were really the weekend project it was supposed to be. However, thanks to one of the guys at Lowe's getting the measurements for the shower drain wrong, we will now be without a shower for the next two weeks at least! So far, the progress that was made was we removed all walls, toilet, sink and shower, have had a plumber re-plumb the fixtures in what will be the shower, raise the shower head and replace a flange where the toilet will be, and have replaced one wall. Every night after work this will continue to be our project for the next few weeks. It'll look amazing when we're done though.
Since there isn't a shower at home, we have to shower at our gym. If I were a normal sized person this wouldn't be a problem. However, I am too big to have the towels go all the way around me. So my options after showering are either running to my locker, strategically attempting to maneuver so as not to embarrass myself or other gym patrons with the sight of my jiggle naked bits (a horrifying thought) or doing something which also makes me cringe, changing into a swimsuit cover up and diving for the close changing room without exposing any excess bits of skin. I'm nervous just thinking about it. Unfortunately, said horror will be commencing as soon as my husband returns from another trip to Lowe's.

During Demolition...
Shower during demolition
We have a wall again!
Shower after demolition waiting on our base that Lowe's ordered wrong!
Before...completely hideous....
Gotta say, the glasses my hubby look adorable!
Alright, now it's time to hit the gym. Until next time! (Holy crap I'm being banded in less than a week!)

The Last Supper
303.6. That's the number I've been torturing myself looking at on the scale for the past two weeks. I won't lie. This number has caused more than one breakdown. I've tried numerous diets with some success only to put the weight back on. I've reached an impasse and now I'm standing on the wrong side of 3 bills.
About a month ago, I began looking into lap band surgery. I've toyed with the idea of having surgery before, but always chickened out thinking that I could do this on my own. I no longer believe that. My insurance will not pay for the surgery, so with the help of family and American Express, this process has gone by amazingly quickly and in 15 days I will be banded. I'm starting this blog as a way to chart progress and just in general have a digital witness to this journey.
What to tell you about me...my name is Kristy. I live in Tulsa, OK, with my husband Nick and my cat Jynx. I'm a therapist (yes the mental health kind and no I'm not diagnosing you.) but I work with children at a school. I just got married and May are currently learning what it means to be first time home owners (an experience in itself.) I'm 32 and a Scorpio....I never know what to say about myself in these things!
Since tonight is my last night before the liquid diet begins, I decided to have a "last supper." Well, to be honest, I've had a few days of last suppers and last night was a last boozy night (judging by how I feel today, I did a good job. I'm too old to have been that good of friends with vodka.) Tonight's meal was a big Mexican platter of enchiladas! A mug brownie and diet coke topped it all off. Just trying to imagine how little they say I will be eating after surgery is crazy to me. It seems like such a foreign concept to not be able to eat more than 1/2 cup of food for a meal. This process has happened so quickly that it almost makes my head spin. I feel ready but truly how can you really be ready for something this...unknown?
THE BEFORE PICS
(Please ignore the 70s glory of my bathroom....it's a work in progress)
